Richard Ingersoll, Ph.D è nato in California e si è formato presso la UC Berkeley. È stato professore di ruolo presso la Rice University nel 1986/87, ha insegnato presso la ETH di Zurigo, l’Universidad de Navarra, Pamplona, e la Syracuse University a Firenze. È stato redattore fondatore del Design Book Review dal 1983 al 1997 e scrive su Domus, Arquitectura Viva, e C3. I suoi libri più recenti includono Mapping Sprawl. A Critique of Graphic Methods of Urban Analysis in collaborazione Arian Heidari Afshari, 2018, World Architecture. A Cross-cultural History, 2013, Sprawltown. Looking for the city on its edges, 2006.
