Prof. Marco Bovati


He was born in Milan, Italy, 1968. He is an architect, graduated with honors at the Faculty of Architecture in Milano. Ph.D. cum laude in Architecture and Urban Composition at the Politecnico di Milano in 2005 with the thesis title “Alterità progettuale del paradigma ecologico. Regressione conservazione trasformazione nell’architettura/The design alterity of the ecological paradigm. Regression Conservation Transformation in Architecture”, under the supervision of Prof. Sergio Crotti.


He is currently Associate Professor in Architectural and Urban Design at the Department of Architecture and Urban Studies (DAStU). He teaches Architectural Design and Architectural Design Theory at AUIC School of Politecnico di Milano. He teaches also Architectural Design and Critique at PhD course Architectural, Urban and Interior Design of Politecnico di Milano.


His recent research concerns various topics: the relation among Urban and Architectural Design and sustainability; the control of the energy cycle and the environmental quality; the strategies for sustainable architecture and urban regeneration, with particular attention to the intermediate scale (block, district); the role of environmental features in defining the guidelines of the interventions; the reuse and recycling of abandoned soils, buildings and tissues. He is author of "Il Clima come fondamento del progetto" (2017).
